Protecting and funding our NHS

Gedling’s MP Tom Randall has welcomed the news that Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS will receive £458,661 this month, as its first tranche of funding, to support innovation and scaling in adult social care.

The pandemic put huge pressure on the NHS, but the Conservative Government has made good progress on its priority to cut waiting lists, virtually eliminating waits of over two years and cutting 18 month waits by over 90 per cent from their peak – but there is more to do.

Last week, Gedling’s Conservative Member of Parliament Tom Randall MP was shown the plans and around the site of where a new Elective Hub is to be built at Nottingham University Hospital’s NHS Trust’s (NUH) City Hospital site.

Tom Randall MP has welcomed the legislation brought forward at the King’s Speech as part of the Conservative Government’s commitment to deliver the long-term decisions for a brighter future.

A 1,500-space multi-storey car park and other essential works to enable the redevelopment of our City and QMC hospitals have moved another step closer to becoming a reality at Nottingham University Hospitals thanks to Government funding.

Nottingham City CDC will be based at Lister Gate, Nottingham (NG1 7DD) and increase diagnostic capacity and reduce waiting times. Once operational, it will deliver up to 75,000 checks, tests and scans a year, tailored to meet the needs of patients.

As part of Dementia Action Week 2023 (15-21 May), Tom Randall MP attended a Parliamentary reception hosted by Alzheimer’s Society where he found out that the dementia diagnosis rate in Gedling is 60.5%.
