I'm now back home in Gedling after my first week in Parliament this year. My work, at home and in London, has included:
Voting to protect Gedling residents' access to health services, education services, fire and rescue services, transport services, and border security during strikes;
Speaking with the author of the State of Brownfield Report, Paul Miner from the Council for the Protection of Rural England, about the report and the opportunities for protecting the Green Belt with more brownfield development;
Discussing ways to improve transport in Nottingham and across the East Midlands using technological solutions with Worldline;
Questioning Cabinet Office representatives on the role of non-executive Directors in Government at a meeting of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee;
Met Colwick-based Luxfer Cylinders at the UK Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association Lobby Day in Parliament to talk about the hydrogen industry;
Lobbying the Chancellor for increased SEND funding and fairer regional funding;
Meeting with the Director of Nottingham City Transport in Arnold to promote the Government’s bus fare cap, after agreeing with the Transport Minister that there is no better time for Gedling residents to take the bus for work and leisure;
Requesting an urgent meeting with the Levelling-up Minister to review Gedling Borough Council’s failed levelling up bid;
Visiting Arnold’s Post Office and providing advise on the Government’s energy bill support scheme
Over the weekend, I look forward to chatting with Carlton residents as I report back to them on the work I am doing in Parliament and across Gedling to deliver on their priorities.
